ObliviousBelieve me February 01 Burrito!Heylo guys! Long time since I published anything on the web. Yeah, Yeah! The normal crap continues; all grad students are busy with their course work and other kinds of "unusual" work. We shall come to that "unusual" part later. Academically and according to Georgian Calendar, this is my 2nd quarter in US. I'm loving this place (Irvine, CA) except of the fact that I have to cook every week. Last Fall quarter was kind of OK since I was new to this "US" environment and moreover one has to cook; there are no free lunches! Trust me, it is not fun when you are used to getting food on your dining table back at home. I should not be cribbing about food when you have 3 other room partners who are, if not great but definitely OK. But, today, 29th January, 2009 was special. I somehow got the kick of making out-of-the-way stuff. Keep guessing, guys! Nah, nah, Pav Bhajis and Indian Chinese, and et al.., are all boring! I tried a Mexican dish named "Burrito" (Don't worry, if you didn't hear about it. Here is a detailed description of it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burrito) It was awesome, guys! Trust me for once :-) And you get an awesome feeling when your room mates get freakingly disappointed every Tuesday (last quarter) and Thursday (This quarter)[These are my cooking days] and on one "fine" day, they appreciate you from their hearts :-)!! And yeah, it looked almost similar to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Papa_chevos_burrito.jpg, No exaggeration! Keep blogging guys! I will try to keep posting on a monthly basis at least.
August 13 A month at Lehman Bros.phew! finally I could squeeze some time off to write a blog. My visa was not done and so I had to join Lehman Brothers. I had the opportunity to learn on Capital Markets. Who else could teach you Finance better than Lehman Bros. ? That was the point in attending the session on Capital Markets. It was taught by the best in the market, G. Ramachandran. He is supposedly to be THE BEST in this area. If he is good then he has to be an IIM grad, isn't it? Let me give a brief introduction about this guy: He has lived most of his life in Chicago, The Governor of Maharashtra is his friend. He had the opportunity to meet Laloo Prasad Yadav and interview him, all in all, he is one of those BIG names!! The training was good. People were simply overwhelmed by his style of teaching. They had gone bonkers over the 5-day period. I found the training interesting only when he used to talk on Stock Markets! ;) That was when I always used to be alert. How do people make money out of stocks, is what excites me!! :D All in all, it was a wonderful experience at Lehman Bros. The interiors were amazing. Senior Managers were good. Everything was good for that matter. Got to learn a few things about finance. :D But I left Lehman Bros. because I wanted to pursue my Masters in CS at UC, Irvine! :D So, that was IT! Bye-Bye, LEH BROS. for the time being. Will get back to you some day :) January 27 Tsongo failed to singI was ecstatic to watch the finals of the Australian Open 2008 today. I had reserved my LCD TV for the match so that none of my family members could disturb me. And, I was lucky to get the TV to watch the grand finals. It was an unexpected fixture, no one could have ever imagined an unseeded player to make it to the finals of the grand slam. The last time we watched an unseeded player playing the finals of the grand slam and winning it was back in 2001 when Goran Ivanisevic won against Pat Rafter in a 5-set thriller. But that was 7 years back!! It was a big game for both the players. A new champion was about to give its birth at the Rod Laver Arena. It was a perfect environment- blue sky, raucous crowd and two fresh players. An unexpected start. Both players losing their first games. There was very little to choose between them. Tsongo was really successful against Nadal when he played his drop-volleys to perfection but He could not produce many against Djokovic. This lack of consistency was seen in Tsongo's game. But, something comes to your rescue when you are in trouble, right? And there comes a lot of unforced errors from Djokovic in the first set, thereby giving Tsongo the break point and the first set point after two games. The first set finished 6-4 in Tsongo's favour. Tsongo looked confident, powerful and positive at the start of the second set. But suddenly, He was overcome by Djokovic's attacking tennis. Djokovic's volleys and passes came at the right moment when it mattered the most. He broke Tsongo's serve to take a 6-4 lead in the second set. Djokovic continued his same game plan of attacking and broke Tsongo's serve at 3-3 and 5-3 in the third set to clinch the third set as well. Now, it was a must win set for Tsongo to get back into the match. This set was really tight and moreover, Djokovic caught up with a strain and therefore he had to undergo a medical cure on his left thigh. But, soon he recovered and came back on the field and the set went into a tie-break. Tsongo could not sustain the pressure and made 2 consecutive unforced errors which were enough for Djokovic to win his first grand slam title. Hard luck for Tsongo :(. My heart was with Tsongo throughout the match and I felt really bad for the 22 year old Frenchman. At times, I was disappointed with Tsongo when he looked really casual and lethargic. He couldn't make Djokovic move around the court with his power. But nevertheless, I experienced an amazing match of tennis.
August 12 Arsenal Vs Fulham - 2nd HalfNow the first 40 minutes were almost as same as the first half barring the blunders Arsenal made. It was the same passing game Arsenal played though they were 1-0 down, the same counter attack which was never an ATTACK but a way to slow down the game and allow Fulham players to cover the ball.:@
Frustration was still a part of the game, it never looked as if the gunners really played. It was a boring game even though Eboue was substituted for Walcott at the 62nd minute. It all started to look energetic and lively when Rosicky was replaced by Nicolas Bendtner. Chances came in thick and fast and promising as well. It was Toure's dribbling that led the Fulham player to make a necessary block in the penalty area and gave away a penalty to the Gunners!! Van Persie's penalty gave the fans an assurance that they would atleast not lose on the opening day of the premiership. And as usual, Arsenal fought hard in the final 10 minutes and got ANOTHER GOAL and came in lead for the first time in the match. And who scored?? HLEB:) Amazing control of the ball passed from Fabregas and struck the ball beautifully into the net. Phew!! I am sure after all this drama; the only player who would be relieved would be Jens Lehmann. Final score Arsenal 2- 1 Fulham. Arsenal V fulham - 1st HalfI am frustrated!!
Horrendous start for arsenal, within 51 seconds, Lehmann, the arsenal goalkeeper who got a 1 year extension at Arsenal FC made a blooper of himself. Clichy, the Arsenal Left Back who knows only to sprint and nothing else :@ won the ball and calmly back passed to the goalkeeper and to everyone's surprise Jens, the goalkeeper could not control the ball well and gave away the ball to Healy, the new Center Forward of Fulham and he angled the ball into the net. Phew!! Do you expect a goalkeeper of such high caliber to make such embarrassing blunders? And the rest is what you say is history. Arsenal did what they think they are at best, and that is keep POSSESSION and only POSSESSION and nothing else. They kept the ball as if they had owned the ball for practice but did nothing terrifying. They passed and passed and passed but could not do anything in the final one-third. Hard to say but Arsenal were pathetic and disgusting. Rosicky and Clichy blitzkrieged on the left flanks as if they were going to stretch the Fulham's defense but when they came in the penalty box they didn't know what to do, either they gave away the ball to the Fulham defenders or did something foolish. The only person I pity after watching this frustrating stuff is Mr. Arsene Wenger. Man, He built the squad with the dream that one day he would be successful with these young lads but they are not even trying to fulfil his ambitions even a bit. Adieu till the Full time. January 19 Specialists over Generalists
The view can be applied to the working of the Football Club. A Manager has its scouting staff, Medico staff, auditor and many. Each is designed to work for something special. December 28 Time Sharing with reference to GodsAnother passion in my life is ‘Blogging’. This is my third blog in five days and I am
embarrassed to acknowledge how people have thrashed me on the topics I have selected. Now, I am going off thetrack and I don’t know how people will respond to this but I just want to admit it. This topic is somewhat related to philosophy or you can say it is my madness. I don’t know why but there is some mystery behind the creation of this Universe.
I still can’t figure out how the planets revolve around the Sun, the force of attraction which causes tides. Why there is life only on Earth and not on any other planet? Me, being a child feel it is a mystery. People say that it is due to the gravitational force of attraction which does the trick but I feel there is something beyond it. People consider Mr. Galileo, Einstein, Archimedes and others as the greatest scientists
of this living world. I consider them as my deities. But, somewhere down the line I feel that God plays a vital role. He takes turns i.e. sometimes He comes in the form of Galileo or sometimes He morphs Himself as Albert and discovers some phenomenal things,
something which a normal brain having an IQ of 125 cannot even dream of such things. I still can’t understand how he thought of the two theories of relativity. They seemed to be so logical but how did He get to those wild things. Impeccable is not the word. So, I am concluding them as God’s work!
